You know by now that I love Cars and Coffee events, and have been to many of them around the country. If you are heading Virginia or Washington DC way, this is one you must visit if you’re there on a Saturday morning.
The epicenter is a little coffee, bakery and sandwich place called Katie’s Coffee House which sits in a large office and retail complex in Great Falls, Virginia. The buildings are low rise, low key but attractive, and there’s plenty of room for everything, plus plenty of “civilian” parking if all you have is a rental car. Otherwise it’s “run what ya brung,” with a great variety of cars and friendly folks. I’ve been twice now and enjoyed myself a bunch both times. This is one of those great events that began with about ten cars and now regularly draws many hundreds. It had rained a little the night before I was there most recently, and that kept a little of the crowd of cars away, but not enough to kill the deal. Still worth attending even if it was 50-75 cars down from normal.
My absolutely special friends Bev and Bob, and Bev’s scumptilicious 60th anniversary C6 Grand Sport Corvette roadster.
I’m impressed with the quality and variety of the cars on hand, with truly something for everyone. And fortunately, the food and coffee at Katie’s is terrific.
Here’s the scoop on details and directions:

Just above, you met Bev and Bob. Bev drove her Vette on this day, so Bob drove one of their Shelby GTs. Nice!
Do not think this Farimont wagon has no place next to an E-Type and a new Mustang. The little blue Ford packed a stout small-block V-8 underhood and idled more like a Super Stock drag racer than any other wagon I know of.
The black ’60 TR3 second from the front was restored to absolutely as new condition and looked Pebble Beach ready to my eyes. Driven by a young guy and his father in law, and the owner/driver did the resto himself. Wish I would have had the chance to shoot the whole car.
This 458 Speciale proved if nothing else that some Ferrari guys will in fact drive their cars even if it rained. Yum this one.
Again proving that “Bonds have more Fun,” this lovely gray DBS wore the license plates DBS 007.
See!?
Eric Zauzner’s Steve Moal built ’34 Ford coupe would be at home as a concept car at the 1939 Paris Auto show, chromed and polished nailhead Buick V-8 not withstanding.
Coachwork like no other ’34 Ford you’ve ever seen. For my money, Steve Moal is the best and most imaginative hot rod and custom builder in the world today, and this is just one example of why.
Hey little guy — having a good day with grampa?
Several Skylines and other hot rice burners there too.
Betcha nevers saw one of these before. Cool Mazda utility van drew quite the crowd.
Not only was this 3100 stepside beautifully built and finished, but it still ran a proper straight six — most coolness.
