You may recall my initial review and impression of Mothers most recently released line of Ceramic Detail products:
You searched for mothers – Matt Stone Cars
I only used and evaluated two of the products, because one of them is for Paint Correction (polishing, scratches, gloss, etc) and I don’t have any cars that needed that treatment at the moment. I disclosed this fact, and posted my commentary about the SprayWax product, and also the Car Wash & Wax concentrate liquid. I love(d) the Car Wash, yet was a bit less enthused about the Spray Wax.
As with anything, experience, use (and more and more reading of the instructions) often yield a better result. I’ve now applied this product a couple more times on two different vehicles and am liking it a lot better. It’s certainly easy to use, but my criticism was that the post removal “touch” didn’t give that super smooth, glossy fingertip feel that (in my opinion) a good wax or protection product should do. Futher, since it doesn’t “polish” or clean the surface, I wasn’t sure how long the protection or shine might or would last.
I varied my regimen a bit, and so far, have found the result much more satisfying. As before, and as always, I pre-washed the car really well, using some distilled vinegar and water solution to help strip off any previous wax or other contaminants on the paint surface, following that up with another thorough washing using the Mothers Ceramic Wash & Wax. Now the paint was really clean, and I let it all dry overnight in a garage prior to a from-scratch application of the Ceramic Spray Wax. I pulled the truck out of the garage and let it warm in the moderate sun just a bit, not to the point of being hot, but just enough to ease the product spread, and also drying. I then removed the mild haze with a clean microfiber towel.
The product came off nicely with minimal effort, and this time, the shine looked up to snuff, and the surface was much smoother to the touch. That’s now been about four months, and the surface still looks shiny and clean, and still beads water as if recently applied– and this on a vehicle that sits outside 24/7 in Southern California weather. Needless to say, I’m now liking this Wash & Wax product much more and will likely use it on several of my cars, including the daily drivers that live outside.
Earlier this month, Mothers released a new mini lineup of ceramic-based products, for which I’m awaiting samples, and the chance to evaluate them, and of course I’ll bring you the results.
