Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale, here I come.

One of the coolest things I do all year is my work as an auction analyst for SPEED. I work all four of Barrett-Jackson Auction Company’s collector car auctions; Scottsdale, the original and largest of B-J’s sales, plus Palm Beach Florida, Orange County, California, and we end each year’s auction season with a Vegas Baby sale at the Mandelay Bay Resort, Casino, and convention complex in Las Vegas. Each sale features many hours of live auction action, and its my priviledge to work with a great bunch of knowledgeable guys; our host and master of ceremonies, so to speak, is Bob Varsha; a big game broadcaster if there ever was one. Most of you know Bob for his similar role on SPEED’s coverage of Formula One racing. Bob and I work in the SPEED skybooth which sits high above the auction block and believe me it’s the best seat in the house. Working down on the auction block giving up close and personal descriptions of the cars and bidding action are Mike Joy and Steve “Doctor Datecode” Magnante. Mike is a super knowledgeable car guy, and one of the very best motorsport broadcasters there is. Steve Mags is a detail fanatic that points out stuff about each car that nobody else would spot, or know. Rick DeBruhl is also a somewhat famous racing broadcaster, and he works primarily out in the staging lanes, an area where the cars gather and stage just prior to hitting the auction block. Rick is a superb feature guy and does live, and always insightful previews of what’s coming next. Let’s not forget my pal Justin Bell, himself an accomplished racer with international credentials, JB is primarily a “fun feature” guy, and his great sense of humor and charming British wit serve him well in these regards. We’re on air live beginning January 17 and through the weekend. For the complete broadcast schedule, visit SPEED.com and to view virtual catalog of all the cars for sale, visit Barrett-Jackson.com. This year’s docket is particularly strong, chock with great musclecars, Americana, cool restored trucks, a real live Tucker and a super low mile Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing. I can’t wait. Tune in, check us out, and you can email me up in the SPEED booth via the SPEED.com website. See you from there.
